QUEEN ATTENDS SYMPHONY OF FRIENDSHIP 2.0 CONCERT - A SYMBOL OF MALAYSIA-SINGAPORE FRIENDSHIP

Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia graced “The Symphony of Friendship 2.0” at the Dewan Philharmonic Petronas, KLCC, last night (27 November).

Also in attendance were His Highness Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain Ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris A’fifullah Shah, Raja Dihilir Perak, and Her Highness Tunku Soraya Binti Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, Raja Puan Muda Perak.

Her Majesty was received by Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Datin Paduka Ho Ching, wife of former Singapore Prime Minister Dato’ Lee Hsien Loong.

Also present were Hishamudin Abd Rahim, Chief Executive Officer of the Raja Zarith Sofiah of Johor Foundation (YRZSNJ), and Ng Boon Heong, Chief Executive Officer of Singapore’s Temasek Foundation.

“The Symphony of Friendship 2.0” marked the second collaborative concert organised by YRZSNJ and the Temasek Foundation, following its inaugural performance in 2023 at the Permaisuri Zarith Sofiah Opera House in Johor Bahru.

This year’s concert featured a special inclusive orchestral performance by musicians from both nations: the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO) and performers from Malaysia’s Ministry of Education, alongside Singapore’s The Purple Symphony, as well as special appearances by Jaclyn Victor, Nadeera and Suki Low.

Raja Zarith Sofiah said the concert is a testament to the enduring strength of collaboration, of friendship and of shared purpose.

“We celebrate the remarkable ability of music to unite communities and nurture deeper understanding between our two nations.

“All of us are aware about the uncertainties, natural calamities, and conflicts which burden many parts of the world. Yet music - unbound by nationality, ethnicity, social standing or background - speaks to all of us and reaches every heart. It reminds us of shared humanity,” said The Queen.
